Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool, the club announced on May 5th. Alexander-Arnold has been a lifer for the Reds, joining the Academy at the age of 6 and progressing through the ranks until he made his debut with the Reds in 2016. Since then, he has made 352 appearances with Liverpool, earning several individual and team honours along the way.
Alexander-Arnold has scored 23 goals during his career and been a part of winning the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the Super Cup. In all, Alexander-Arnold has helped the Reds lift 8 major trophies during his time at Anfield.
“I've felt the support, the love, everything that you guys have done has never been unnoticed by me,” Alexander-Arnold said. “I've loved every single minute of it. I hope they have felt that has been reciprocated and that I've given everything I could to the club.
“I'm just hoping that we're able to carry on winning games, the noise [around my decision] doesn't take away from the fact of what we've achieved this season.”
Arne Slot has yet to share his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold's departure, but I'm sure that will be addressed at an upcoming press conference.
LFC Globe Verdict
Well, the worst-kept secret in Word Football is out. Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool. Alot of supporters are angry because he is a free transfer, but if he had left the club in January for a fee, then the Reds might not have won the Premier League. For me, the trade off is well worth it.
Most people believe that Alexander-Arnold will be going to Real Madrid, which is fine with me because I will get to see him play in person this Summer with the club in Charlotte, NC. It will be interesting to get one of the first looks at Alexander-Arnold with his new club.
