Joe Gomez is included in Liverpool's squad as they travel down to the south coast to face Southampton on Friday night.
The youngster has been out of action since early December, having undergone ankle surgery during his four-month spell out.
Gomez has been back in full training for over a week and, despite some provisional squads leaving him out ahead of tonight's fixture, according to The Telegraph, he is deemed fit enough to travel.
Whether he makes the final eighteen remains to be seen, with manager Jurgen Klopp having an otherwise nearly fully-fit squad to choose from.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster are the only long-term absentees, whilst Virgil van Dijk brushed off an ankle knock against Tottenham on Sunday to make himself available.
Joel Matip has impressively stepped up alongside the Dutchman in recent months, whilst Dejan Lovren is also back fit and available after recovering from various injury issues.
It's highly doubtful that Gomez makes an immediate return to the starting eleven however he will be vying for a place on the substitutes bench ahead of Lovren.
Possibly. Gomez has been working for over a week now.... That said, others are well placed in terms of fitness. Lovren for example, and Klopp won't want to overload his bench with defenders.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Klopp spoke about his defensive unit, praising them to be a 'proper' defence.
"They have a long career ahead, which is cool. And how it looks at the moment is that they want to spend the majority of their careers here, which is cool as well.
"It is probably not the most expensive defence in the world but it is a proper one, a really proper one.
"Wherever good players are coming from, wherever they are raised, wherever the dream started, they are welcome here at Liverpool."
