Leicester vs Liverpool - Reds To Face Foxes For Easter Sunday Showdown

Liverpool are on the verge of history. They could wrap up their 20th League title with a at King Power Stadium against Leicester City today, on Easter Sunday, and an Arsenal . In all, Liverpool need a combined six points over the final six matches to secure the title. With Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah under new two-year contract extensions, Reds' supporters have plenty to celebrate at the moment, already.

Figuring Out The Foxes

The job is not done yet, and could be a challenge on their pitch. They are all but relegated, and a loss to Liverpool would assure that the club would be sent down. Expect Leicester to fight hard to stay up at least for the time being and delay Liverpool's coronation until another week. They are led by striker Jamie Vardy's 7 league goals on the season, but collectively they have struggled. The Foxes have not won an EPL match since January, a 2-1 victory vs Tottenham. However, they have won 2 out of the last 3 meetings with Liverpool.

What Does Slot Say?

While most people are focused on Liverpool potentially winning the Premier League title, is not one of them.

“My thoughts are not on that at all,” he said. “My thoughts are, as always, on Leicester and on our team: how to improve, what can we do better. We couldn't do many things better in the first half against West Ham [United] but we could do a lot of things better in the second half. So, during the start of the week we have worked on that a lot and now we are working towards Leicester. One game at a time and influence the one we can influence, and that's the Leicester game.”

“My whole life I'm living in the moment, in the day, and I'm not looking backwards a lot and I'm not looking forwards a lot because it's the type of person that I am, that I am not constantly looking back at what I have achieved at former clubs,” Slot continued.

“That is also so difficult in football, people constantly tell you, ‘Try to enjoy it, try to enjoy the whole journey,' but the only thing you are thinking about as a manager is, ‘Oh, at the weekend there is a game coming up as well and we need to win that and we need to win the next and we need to win the next.' So, maybe that's one of the reasons: because I'm already so long in football that you get used to the fact of living day by day and trying to influence day by day.”

Injury Update

Slot also provided an update on injuries within the club as the season winds down. With rumours swirling about Trent Alexander-Arnold's future with the club, Slott announced that the defender is back in training and would likely be on the bench for the match after a prolonged absence. However, it is becoming less and less likely that Joe Gomez will be able to return this season.

LFC Globe Verdict

I think Liverpool will win this match rather easily, but it will be another week before they wrap up the title. losing to Ipswich Town is too much of an ask. Still, the Reds are in a good spot and nearly back to full strength. I expect the Foxes to put up a fight to avoid relegation, but the Reds will be too much in the end, winning 3-0.

Where To Watch

Kickoff is set for 14:30 BST on Easter Sunday from King Power Stadium and will air on Sky Sports. In the United States, it will air on the USA Network at 11:30 AM EST. In Canada, the match will stream on fubo.tv.
