Liverpool vs Tottenham - One Point Away: Liverpool Host Spurs With Title In Sight

Jacob -

Liverpool are one point from clinching the Premier League Title, meaning they are just a single result away with four games remaining. The Reds can finish the job on Sunday, April 27th, when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. Various players and manager Arne Slot spoke about the importance of this match and what it would mean for them individually and the club as a whole.

What They Are Saying?

Everybody is talking about the upcoming match and is excited about the possibilities it holds. Captain Virgil van Dijk says, “To the is special, however and wherever you do it. But to do it at , in front of the most incredible supporters in the world? That's something else entirely. It's our dream, it's your dream, and our aim on Sunday is to make sure that dream comes true.”

Cody Gakpo adds, “This is the moment we all worked so hard for the whole year. When you start football and you get knowledge about the leagues in Europe, I think everybody can agree that the Premier League is one of, if not the best, league in Europe and the world.”

While is also excited about the possibilities of the match, he wants his club to focus, knowing they still need a point to wrap things up.

“Everybody is looking forward to Sunday, but we know there is still a job to be done, at least one point.

"That's what we know and hopefully our fans know as well when they come to the stadium, that they support us in the best possible way they can – which is what they have done the whole season – and are aware of the fact that we still need a point.”

Let's Talk Tottenham

Tottenham will look to spoil Liverpool's party, and they are more than capable of doing so. The Spurs have struggled a bit this season as they sit in 16th place after normally challenging for a spot in the Champions League, but they still have plenty of talent. They are one of only two teams in the bottom half of the table with a positive goal difference(+10). The Spurs are led on the season by Brennan Johnson with 11 goals, followed by James Maddison with 9.

Facts & Figures

Stats bode well for a Liverpool victory. The Reds have lost only once to the Spurs in the last 30 EPL matches. Tottenham have also conceded 10 goals in previous meetings with Liverpool this season. Liverpool have also scored at least one goal in 29 straight EPL games. Several players can reach individual milestones as well. If Luis Diaz sees action, it will be his 100th EPL appearance with the club. If Mohamed Salah scores, he will have 16 career goals vs Tottenham in EPL play, tied for the most against any club with Manchester United.

LFC Globe Verdict

Even though Liverpool just need a , I expect them to play for the win. I  think the mood at Anfield will be a festive one. The Reds can hopefully send a couple of goals early to take the drama out of this one and then let the celebration begin.

Where To Watch

Kickoff is set for 16:30 BST and can be seen on Sky Sports. In the United States and Canada, the action will stream on Peacock at 11:30 AM EST.
