Photos: Milner back in training as Reds begin Man City preparations

The Liverpool squad were put through their paces on New Year’s Day with James Milner returning from injury.

Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff led the Reds out at Melwood on Tuesday evening as they looked ahead to Thursday’s visit of the Etihad.

Liverpool go in to the clash against Manchester City with a seven point lead over their rivals, whilst they are six points above second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Victory for the Reds will cap off a hugely successful festive period, having won all eight games in December to become title favourites.

The Reds will continue to be without Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Dominic Solanke, however they will be boosted by the return of Milner.

The midfielder has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury in recent weeks but was present in training ahead of the highly-anticipated fixture.

Klopp should confirm his and the rest of the squad’s availability during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
