The Reds had come under criticism for failing to convert draws into wins of late, however they emphatically answered their detractors on Sunday.
Having gone a goal down in the opening ten minutes, Liverpool responded with goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane to hold a fairly comfortable 2-1 lead at half-time.
Firmino then added another with a little under 25 minutes to go, before late drama saw Burnley pull a goal back via Johann Gudmundsson.
However, the Reds remained resilient in added time and Mane put any nerves to bed by completing his brace and handing a 4-2 win to Jurgen Klopp's side.
The result means that Liverpool close the gap with Manchester City to just one point, with City having beaten Watford on Saturday to edge away at the summit of the Premier League.
Next up is a trip to Munich to face Bayern for the second-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, before facing Fulham at Craven Cottage this weekend.
