Can Score 20 Goals For Liverpool This Season?

The name of the Uruguyuan striker has been spewed for several days since his remarkable brace in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

It was his third appearance for Liverpool this season and was brought on in the 77th minute with little time to make an impact but boy did he do it.

Just four minutes after coming, Núñez netted a difficult finish past Nick Pope before repeating his excellence 10 minutes later to claim all three points for Liverpool in a game they played with 10 men for around 70 minutes.

His impact reminded Liverpool fans just how devastating he could be when given an opportunity and fans now begin asking, can Darwin Núñez score 20 goals for Liverpool this season?

In his brief cameo against Newcastle, the number nine demonstrated his improved finishing, a key part of his game that lacked many times last season.

Despite scoring 15 goals in all competitions last season, Núñez could have scored quite a few more but his finishing certainly let him down at points and noticeably affected his confidence at times.

However, his goals at St James' Park in what was an extremely high pressurised atmosphere looked to have shown a difference in mentality and for better in that case.

Should Núñez be Liverpool's starting striker, he will feast on passes from the likes of , , and which will surely boost his goalscoring tally.

He'll Struggle To Start

In my opinion, Darwin Núñez will only struggle to net 20 goals for Liverpool because of his inability to start enough games.

The forward line at Liverpool is perhaps the greatest in Europe with the likes of , , , and competing for places.

While Núñez is the most natural nine out of the bunch, Gakpo's ability to link up play makes him almost a like-for-like replacement for , who left in the summer after eight years at the club.

What the Uruguayan has going for him is that Liverpool are indeed in four competitions and he'll no doubt start in the domestic cup competitions as well as the but being one of the first names on the teamsheet in the will be a battle and a half for Liverpool's number nine.

Do you think Darwin Núñez can score 20 goals for Liverpool this season?
