After making his return following almost six months out with injury, Luis Díaz received a much-deserved standing ovation when he came on in the second half of Liverpool's 6-1 win against Leeds United last week.
The winger has been a huge miss for Liverpool as they've struggled throughout the season, sitting in the lower end of the top 10 in the Premier League table while they've been knocked out of the FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Champions League in the Colombian's absence.
It feels like he's been at the club for ages but he's played just 38 games for the Reds in his career, netting 10 goals, in the year and a half he's been at Liverpool.
He's already become an important figure for Liverpool as their resident left-winger following the departure of Sadio Mané in the summer.
The question is, could he replace the number of goals the Senegalese forward scored for Liverpool, as he never hit below double digits in the Premier League, for either Liverpool or Southampton?
Becoming consistent in front of the goal
Díaz must become a consistent goalscorer if he wants to help the club reach the level they've been at for the past five years.
He was enjoying a prolific campaign with Porto before joining Liverpool in 2022, scoring 14 goals in just 18 games in the Primeira Liga before playing 13 games for Liverpool in the Premier League and scoring four goals.
An adjustment period is going to happen when you arrive in the Premier League and that's what the 26-year-old went through.
Despite the lack of goals, just like Mané, the effort he gives and the problems he gives defences in his relentless pressing probably caused a few goals for his teammates and which makes him a fan favourite.
The winger started off the season with three goals in eight games in the league but next season will truly tell what sort of goalscorer he'll be for the club.
Traditional winger
Not every winger is cut out to be a deadly goalscorer, Liverpool have certainly been blessed with Salah and Mané both being major goal threats for the entirety of their career in Merseyside.
More so Mané, who didn't take penalties while at Liverpool.
Díaz is more of a player who is involved with much of the build-up but isn't always the one polishing off the chances.
A selfless player by nature, he's certainly more likely to pass the ball in a position where a teammate may have a better chance at a goal, a trait that is shared by Roberto Firmino.
While Díaz may not put up the same numbers as someone like Salah, that does not reduce his importance and impact on the Liverpool team.
