Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez has decided to wear the #9 shirt during the 2023-24 season He wore #27 during his first season at Anfield but with the departure of Roberto Firmino, the #9 became available.
“I'm really happy to wear number nine. And I'm very proud too,” Núñez said. “Honestly, previously other players represented this number really well and now it's my turn to wear it. And I hope that everything goes well. I hope I'm able to represent it the best way just as the previous players did. And hopefully, this is for many years and that it brings a lot of joy too.”
Luis Diaz also made a jersey switch to #7 earlier this Summer after the departure of James Milner.
