The Reds have enjoyed a successful first half of fixtures to their league campaign, remaining the only unbeaten side in all of England's top five divisions.
Seven Premier League wins on the trot, the latest coming against Wolves last Friday, has seen them rise above champions Manchester City to top the table at Christmas.
A four point gap could be strengthened further with the visit of lowly Newcastle to Anfield, with Man City facing a trip to Leicester City at the same time.
It promises to be a hugely entertaining festive fixture on a chilly afternoon on Merseyside. The visitors, led by previous Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, are attempting to stave off relegation after an underwhelming start to the campaign.
Benitez is well-known for his ability to coach a defensive side, however he admitted that he has a plan to win all three points against his former side, suggesting he may set his side out with uncompromised attacking intent.
Liverpool remain odds-on favourites to down Newcastle, however, with the Reds dispatching every side outside of the top six so far this season and it should be no different on Wednesday.
Team News
The Reds squad has had to endure injuries at the start of this month, however there was no more bad news in Klopp's pre-Newcastle press conference.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who suffered a foot injury against Napoli, is available and should return to the starting eleven after being involved in training this week.
Naby Keita, who suffered a cut to his foot and a knock to his ribs in Friday's 2-0 win over Wolves, is also expected to be available.
Dejan Lovren should continue at the heart of defence with Virgil van Dijk, in the absence of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, with Alexander-Arnold joining Andy Robertson at the back.
However, with games against Arsenal and Man City to come in the following week, Klopp could opt to draft in some squad players.
The boss has plenty of bodies to choose from in midfield, with Keita vying to retain his place alongside Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Adam Lallana and Gini Wijnaldum.
Xherdan Shaqiri is another option in attacking midfield, although the Swiss international could replace one of the usual attacking trio should they require a rest.
