(Match Preview) Here We Go Again: Reds and Wolves meet for the 4th Time This Season

Jacob -

The Reds are on a bit of a roll inside the Premier League as they are unbeaten in their last three league outings. As a result, they have climbed to 7th on the table and can move to 6th with a win and loss by Newcastle. The opponent standing in the way is a familiar one: The Wolverhampton Wanderers

The and the Reds have already met three times on the pitch just this calendar year with the results being split 1 , 1 and 1 draw for each team. So, this match could be very interesting.

The last time the two teams played at Anfield, they battled to a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup. Since then, Liverpool have gotten several players back from injury and they are playing better football.  However, the Wolves are certainly no pushover as they have 7 points over their last four matches, including a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool, so they can not be taken lightly.

With those results, Wolves have moved out of the relegation zone to 15th place in the table and are led in scoring by Ruben Neves and Daniel Podence, who have 5 goals each. Goalkeeper Jose Sa also has lots of talent as he made several big saves vs Liverpool the last time the teams met.

Developing Diogo

Diogo Jota has come on strong since returning from injury for Liverpool, but before coming to , he wore Wolves coulors, scoring 44 times during his stay at Wolverhampton. Jürgen Klopp spoke about Jota in glowing terms at his pre-match press conference and addressed his importance to the club

“Diogo is an exceptional player,” Klopp said. “The next one he was injured, stuff like this, and [he] needs to get rhythm now. I think it helped him a lot [starting]. Yes, he was tired, of course, after the game – that's clear. [It's the] same with him, we'll have to see how he reacted and then finally today we have to make these kind of decisions [on] who can start or who should start. He will definitely be involved again if nothing happens. He's a top-class player, so it's great; versatile, he can play on the left wing, he can play in the centre and on the right wing as well. So, that's really helpful for this busy period wetter as of late in are having.”

Injury Update

Ibrahima Konaté is in full training with the club and is expected to at least be on the bench if not start. Darwin Núñez has also trained with the team this week and he could see the pitch, but his status is still uncertain. Joe Gomez has officially been ruled out with a muscle injury.

LFC Globe Verdict

Here we go again. It seems like Liverpool and Wolverhampton play each other every week. Obviously, that's not actually the case, but the two clubs are familiar with one another. The results of these encounters have been a mixed bag for the Reds, although they have been playing better as of late in Premier League matches. I think it's key for Liverpool to go up early in this one and get Anfield rocking. If that happens, will be well in sight.
