Liverpool hopes to continue their solid form as they travel to face Luton Town today, on Sunday, November 5th. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 5 matches across all competitions and are pushing toward the top of the EPL Table.
New Kids On The Block
Luton Town are one of the feel good stories of the football world. Not only have they gained promotion to the Premier League, but they have worked their way up the pyramid as they were playing non-league football as recently as 2009. Luton Town look as if they will be competitive to avoid relegation this season as they are just one point below the line after being predicted to finish last in the League by many pundits.
Colton Morris leads Luton Town with 3 goals on the season, but they need help putting the ball in the back of the net as they only have 10 goals in all competitions. A key for Liverpool will be to score a couple of goals early to distance themselves from Luton Town's plucky squad.
Injury Update
Unfortunately, Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic still have a ways to go in their recovery from injury.
“No, we don't know [when he will be back]. With Stefan it's, again, one of these things. Stefan's quality, potential, talent, everybody could see and it's incredible - what a player - but the body was not ready yet, Jürgen Klopp said at his press conference. “With Thiago it is slightly different, it's an ongoing thing and we cannot put any kind of pressure on there as well.
“We expect him to be back - and I would say probably the start of the New Year. It's now already November, so that would mean another four weeks. I would say that's probably a realistic thing to try and I can't wait, to be honest, to have him back.”
Klopp also said that Luis Diaz was back training with the club, but it would be up to him when he returned to the pitch.
Núñez Hot Start
Darwin Núñez is finding his form for the Reds. Not only did the striker score a great goal to give Liverpool a 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup, but he has 7 and 5 assists in 14 matches so far this season after struggling at times last year. He only had 15 goals in 42 appearances last season so he is poised to race past that mark in 2023/24 which is one of the main reasons the Reds are challenging for a League Title as the calendar flips to November.
LFC Globe Verdict
Luton Town's story seems as if it comes straight from a Disney Movie and it's hard not to root for the Hatters, but Liverpool has to pick up all 3 points in this match. With Mohamed Salah and Núñez playing well and on a scoring spree, the Reds win 3-0.
