Liverpool failed to hold on to their 2-1 lead at Brighton this afternoon as the home side equalised in the second half as the two teams fought to a draw.
First Half
It was a slow start for Liverpool at the Amex Stadium where they've struggled in recent years having lost 3-0 on their last trip there.
The away side almost found themselves 1-0 down in the first five minutes after a well-worked piece of play for Brighton as Solly March almost put his team ahead but was blocked.
However, it wasn't long before Brighton got their opener as a pass from Virgil van Dijk to Alexis Mac Allister was quickly intercepted by Brighton as Simon Adingra's quick strike caught Alisson out as the ball travelled past the Brazilian goalkeeper.
It was a well-earned goal for Brighton who capitalised on Liverpool's sloppiness. However, Liverpool conceding first and coming back valiantly has been a theme throughout the season and they proved it once again.
Darwin Núñez played in Harvey Elliot who expertly left the ball for Mohamed Salah to strike past Bart Verbruggen to equalise the game. Just five minutes later, Liverpool had an opportunity to take the lead as Dominik Szoboszlai was brought down in the box by Lewis Dunk and a penalty was given.
As always, Mohamed Salah scored to put Liverpool up 2-1 by the break.
Second Half
Liverpool continued where they left off at the end of the first half as they almost had a third right after the break but Ryan Gravenberch somehow missed from several yards out an empty net.
Brighton began showing just how dangerous they are from the counterattack and created a few half chances that Joao Pedro and Evan Ferguson failed to convert.
With Liverpool unable to find a third, the home side grew confident and eventually found their equaliser through captain Lewis Dunk who turned it home from a Solly March free-kick.
The end-to-end game certainly satisfied the neutral fan but Liverpool will feel frustrated that they weren't able to secure all three points.
LFC Globe Verdict
It wasn't the best Liverpool performance this season who'll certainly look back at the game as two points lost.
Liverpool are now winless in their last two Premier League games as they continue to lose ground on the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham, and Arsenal.
Man Of The Match And What's Next?
Mohamed Salah was once again the shining light in the otherwise dim Liverpool side.
The Egyptian king scored both of his team's goals and should thank him for even getting a point from the game.
With the international break now getting underway, Liverpool's next game is not for another two weeks as they take on Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday, October 21st at 12:30PM (UK time).
