Liverpool got back to winning ways with an improved performance in the Premier League against visitors Brentford as they took home three points in a comfortable 3-0 win. Liverpool are now 2nd in the Premier League table.
First Half
It was a lively start for Liverpool who almost opened the lead in the fifth minute when Darwin Núñez's cross was deflected by Nathan Collins which almost made its way past Mats Flekken but the goalkeeper managed to keep it out for a corner.
The Uruguayan was the man of the half as he found himself involved in all the action as he had a goal narrowly disallowed in the 21st minute. Núñez had the ball back in the net with a stunning bicycle kick after latching onto the end of Joël Matip's header but was once again adjudged to be offside.
While Liverpool could have had three goals, they were lucky not to concede as Bryan Mbeumo was one-on-one with Alisson Becker but the Brazilian saved the attempted dink as Trent Alexander-Arnold managed to clear the ball.
Liverpool's good performance was finally rewarded with a goal as Alexander-Arnold's pass found Núñez who took a touch to control the ball and another to lay it off for Mohamed Salah who slid it past Flekken to open the scoring.
Second Half
Liverpool continued their dominating first-half performance as they continued to pile on the pressure against Brentford.
It didn't take long for the home side to double their lead as Kostas Tsimikas's cross was met by Mohamed Salah who headed the ball into the net in what was his 200th goal in English football.
Brentford's defence had a momentary lapse during the goal as they believed the ball had gone out before Tsimikas crossed it but VAR confirmed the ball was in play when the Greek international crossed it to Salah.
It was Tsimikas again who played the role of provider as he laid the ball off for Diogo Jota who struck home from outside the box to make it 3-0 for Liverpool in a much-needed victory for Jürgen Klopp and his players.
