Roberto Firmino, affectionally referred to as “Bobby' to Liverpool fans, is an epitome of a fan favourite.
Joining the club in 2015 as a marquee signing by then-manager Brendan Rodgers, the Brazilian endured a slow start.
Having been used in a variety of positions, Rodgers failed to get the best out of the new signing with fans slowly growing impatient.
However, the best thing that ever happened for Firmino's occurred in October of 2015 when Jürgen Klopp was appointed as manager of Liverpool.
Having had previous experience coming up against the forward in the Bundesliga when Firmino was at Hoffenheim and Klopp managed Borussia Dortmund, the German knew just what sort of special player he had on his hands.
Unlocking the gem
At the beginning of Firmino's career at the club, he failed to score in the first three months of the season.
It was only on November 21, 2015, when he officially opened his Liverpool account in a 4-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Firmino didn't look back after that and he finished as Liverpool's top scorer in the league, with 10 goals.
His partnership with compatriot Philippe Coutinho become one that excited and entertained fans as their Brazilian magic become a sight to behold.
Transformation into a false nine
With the purchase of Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah in consecutive transfer windows, Firmino began playing as a false nine – a position that operates in central areas but can drop deep to receive the ball and link up play with teammates.
It was then that we saw Klopp's vision for Firmino.
The Brazilian's high work rate, dribbling and passing ability, and penchant for setting up his teammates made him the perfect partner for Mané and Salah.
The trio created a devastating forward line-up for Liverpool that scored goals and created an abundance of them too.
The 2017-18 season remains the greatest of Firmino's career, as he scored 27 goals and assisted 15 in all competitions.
His departure in the summer
Just days before the 7-0 victory over Manchester United, Roberto Firmino announced that he'll be leaving the club in the summer after a fruitful eight years together.
While most Liverpool fans knew that the end was near for the Brazilian, it didn't make the announcement any less hurtful.
His legacy is set at Liverpool, and he should depart the club knowing he won the hearts of every Liverpool fan around the globe.
