Who is Liverpool’s unsung hero so far this season?

LFC Globe -

It's been a disappointing end to the season for Liverpool who are currently third in the and found themselves crashing out of the and in recent months.

While they did clinch silverware in the form of the , dreams of a potential Treble or even Quadruple were in the minds of some fans before Liverpool's crushing 4-3 to in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

and have been tremendous this campaign for much of the season, displaying their greatness for yet another season at the top level.

The usual suspects have been getting their praises but what about the guys who put in steady shifts consistently but aren't talked about that much? That's who this article is being written for.

I believe two players have been unsung heroes for the club this season: and .

Harvey Elliott Is Growing

It's easy to forget that Harvey Elliott is still just 21 years old. He's been a first-team member of the squad since he was 17 years old and has become a piece of furniture at in recent years.

He played a starring midfield role last season as Liverpool finished third and perhaps played more than expected due to injuries Liverpool suffered in the engine room.

With the signings of , , and Wataru Endō, Elliott has been relegated to a bench role but that hasn't stopped him from showing off his quality when given an opportunity.

Despite starting just eight Premier League games this season, he's featured in all but four matches and is 's go-to substitute when Liverpool either need to hold onto a lead or grab a goal.

His quality, quick feet and impressive link-up play with Mohamed Salah on the right-hand side have proved fruitful on occasions, most recently in the clash against Crystal Palace when Elliott scored his first goal of the season in stoppage time to clinch all three points for the club.

While he's not been a starting player, he's consistently made a difference in games when introduced in the second half and has proved to be a valuable member of Liverpool's squad.

Diogo Jota Is A Goal Fiend

The Portuguese forward is currently sidelined with an injury and Liverpool are certainly missing him. Despite Mohamed Salah's goal-scoring ability, many fans would claim that it is Diogo Jota who is the club's best finisher.

With 15 goals in all competitions, he trails only Salah and this season in terms of goals despite starting just 14 Premier League games.

The 27-year-old has played only 1,150 minutes of action this season and is producing an impressive rate of output and has come to be a player that Liverpool can rely on a goal.

He's one player Liverpool will be hoping returns from injury soon.

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool have been blessed with tremendous squad depth and quality this season in the face of a mass injury crisis.

Among the number of impressive performances doled out during this campaign, Harvey Elliott's consistent availability and ability have made him Liverpool's unsung hero this season.
