We have under three years left with Jürgen Klopp at the helm of Liverpool with the German manager expected to retire at the end of his contract.

Liverpool in the transfer market of late have performed badly and have not adequately prepared for the squad getting older and when that happens, you get seasons like this (2022/23) when some players have run their course at the club and have failed to be replaced.

Liverpool cannot afford to make the same moves in the managerial department when Klopp departs.

He's been the leader of this club for eight years and the man is already a bona fide Liverpool legend and he will very much be missed when he's no longer here.

I believe there is just one name on the list ready to replace German in 2026 and that is Julian Nagelsmann.

A successful three years at the club meant he was voted the German Football Manager of the Year award in 2017 and was rewarded with a move to RB Leipzig in 2019.

Having spent two years with the club, achieving a Champions League semi-final spot before being knocked out by PSG in 2020, Nagelsmann was offered the top job in Germany, the head coach job at behemoths Bayern Munich.

Despite losing just 10 games in 84 games and winning the Bundesliga last season and the DFL Supercup in 2021 and 2022, he was let go by the reigning Bundesliga champs.

While the German has been linked to Chelsea as of late, succeeding a fellow countryman like Klopp at a special club like Liverpool could certainly prove enticing to the young manager.

Both managers are master tacticians and share some of the same footballing beliefs including pressing the opposition high, retrieving the ball as quickly as possible and aiming to inflict the highest possible damage on their opponents.

Sadio Mané, who was coached by both men, said while the younger German is more of a calmer influence, both managers see football similarly.

While he's likely to take a job before Klopp leaves Anfield, I certainly won't be surprised if Nagelsmann finds a path to Liverpool sometime in his career, would you?
