Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will buy a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, with Roma's Brazilian keeper Alisson his main target.
Simon Mignolet spoke out about his future, after Klopp chose to start fellow German Loris Karius in between the sticks against Manchester City. The Liverpool manager stated after the game that Karius will remain the number one for the rest of the season.
He said: “He's the number one. He might make mistakes but this is life and we will not make any changes. When it comes to goalkeepers you make a decision and stick with it.”
Negotiations for Alisson may prove to be tricky for the Merseyside club, following Mohamed Salah's move in the summer for an initial £36.9m fee. The Egyptian has shown this season that the sum is proving to be a bargain, and Roma will look to extract a fair price for their goalkeeper.
Alisson, who does not have a buy-out clause but is valued at around £44 million, is aware his reputation is soaring and has stated a decision on his future would be made after the World Cup.
He said: "I am happy in Rome. It's always a pleasure to feel that lots of people are monitoring you but my head is focused on Roma. I leave my future in the hands of God.
"In June, maybe we will speak about it again. But for now, I am concentrated on Roma."
Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak is another who has been linked to Liverpool, although the Slovenian has an £89 million buy-out clause which will be a factor.
