Virgil van Dijk is in line for a bumper new deal at Liverpool worth "more than £50 million," according to reports on Tuesday.
The reports stem from Football Insider, who claim the Reds are keen to extend the Dutchman's current contract.
Van Dijk signed a five-and-a-half-year deal at Anfield following a £75million move from Southampton in January 2018.
The 28-year-old currently earns a basic weekly wage of £124,658 - as revealed in leaks back in May 2018 - with the defender also entitled to a range of performance-based bonuses.
Van Dijk earned a clean sheet bonus of £750,000 last season as he helped Liverpool to 26 clean sheets, smashing the 22 required in his contract. He is also entitled to £20,000 per goal or assist he contributes, an incentive not usually included in a defender's contract.
Football Insider claim Liverpool will offer Van Dijk another five-year contract, which will see him increase his basic weekly salary to over £150,000. The contract will also include a range of bonuses "that could potentially take it beyond £50m across its entirety."
Van Dijk still has over three years left on his current deal but it's no surprise the club are looking to reward him and secure his long-term future at Anfield.
Alongside goalkeeper Alisson, Van Dijk's influence on the defence and the rest of the squad has been astounding since his arrival.
Liverpool enjoyed a hugely successful 2019 that saw triumphs in the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup, with Van Dijk playing a major role in transforming the Reds to the most feared side in world football.
Van Dijk, who won the PFA Player of the Year award following his stellar performances last season, could further add the coveted Premier League trophy to his accolades this season.
