As expected, Fabinho is the latest player to leave Anfield. The club announced on July 31st that the midfielder has signed a transfer Al-lttihad. The contract is reportedly worth £40 million. Fabinho becomes the second Red in recent days to leave the club as Jordan Henderson also joined Al-Ettifaq.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from AS Monaco in 2018 and found immediate success. He was part of the Champions League winning side in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020. In all, he has helped the club lift 7 trophies during his time at Anfield. During his five-year career with the Reds, Fabinho made 219 appearances scoring 11 times.

Fabinho expressed his thanks to Liverpool on his social media pages saying in part:

“Today I leave my home. It's been five years wearing this jersey and always with the greatest honor and happiness possible. Since day one at Liverpool, I've been embraced by everyone. What I saw inside this club, the relationship between the people there, made me feel like family. In these five years, I grew as a player, as a man, I made dreams come true…”

Jürgen Klopp also thanked Fabiho for his contributions to the club over the years.

“Fab was for so long the insurance we had more or less in midfield. He always gave us the freedom to play all the fancy stuff,” Klopp said. “He was involved in that from time to time as well but loved to be the hoover for the team, loved to do all the dirty work for the team.  We will miss him, definitely. But again, it's like it is. Life is about changes – that's always – and you obviously have to adapt to them. If you don't do that, if you stick in the past, something will hold you back – and I'm not that person.”

LFC Globe Verdict

Everyone knew this was coming when Fabinho was not included on either pre-season roster. As Klopp said change is a part of life, but at this rate, the Reds will look totally different than just a few seasons ago, but then again, so will the entire Premier League with all the high-profile players leaving. It is hard to say what the long-term impact will be.
